First spring butterflies? 2 Replies

In Central VA, I usually see Cabbage Whites and Sulphurs around mid-March.  There's about another month to wait!

It may have been a Sulphur. They are one of the first to appear in the spring.

I can't wait to see the sidewalks, grass, and what's left of my butterfly garden, which are buried beneath the snow!

Thanks for all the feedback! Our weather has been very erratic here in south Florida. Was in the 80's today, with severe thunderstorms, and tonite we are supposed to go down into the 30's! Don't know how this will effect the caterpillars. I hope they make it.

It IS their defense mechanism...their way of making sure no one will stop their reproduction.
