Lisa,

A little bleach falling on the ground beneath the fence may temporarily prevent weeds from growing there. Bleach has a very short life-expectancy, but it may kill beneficial bugs along the way. If you're truly concerned, place plastic beneath the fence and let the bleach solution air dry before disposing of the plastic.

I have a railing above my driveway on which I use a 10:1 bleach-diluted-with-water solution to get rid of moss. It hasn't had any deleterious effect on the driveway beneath (I can't detect any difference anyway).

It sounds like he's going to paint the fence rather than stain it. So...perhaps, if your husband uses KILZ or a similar moss-preventive primer before painting, it may stop moss from starting again. KILZ (brand name) is a great "sealer" in that it doesn't allow moss/mold to get a foothold.

I always use 1-3 with bleach and water and 1 cup of Tide...rince well...works great ...use it every year spray and wash...kills the moss and so does baking soda I am told...will try that this year on the bricks

Wellllll
Have been sitting in an editing room learning a new software package for the last two days. Last night got home after dark.
Spring is springing here in northeast NC...

Just called a bulk mulch deliver'r and it is going to set me back $300 for a load of mulch.
There is an issue... Mamma's beds and Mine.
Hope everyone is well... NE NC is in the low 70s today, but cloudy.
